We Heard You is a non-profit organization based in Northwest Philadelphia. Our mission is “To motivate and cultivate young males in our community, by promoting self-confidence, education, respect, value, and employment.” Our focus is geared towards young males ages 11 to 19. WE welcome all races and are culturally sensitive; encouraging inclusion in all facets of life.
If you have children or are around children regularly, you know how many times you have said or have heard the phrase, “I heard you.” The question is, how often do we actually HEAR them? At We Heard You, WE believe that many youths are acting out due to the lack of truly being heard and their silent cries are growing louder. In the society and world that we live in, those cries can no longer be ignored. Our young people are being targeted and negatively enticed in various aspects. WE believe that this is especially true for our young male population. WE love and truly appreciate all the opportunities for our young women within fellow organizations, but feel that the necessary support is lacking for our boys. With so much negativity surrounding our youth from the news, social media, neighborhoods, schools, etc., it is essential that WE advocate for them by being positive influences in their lives. With various programs, workshops, events, fundraisers, motivational forums, initiatives and pure fun – WE can elevate them together!
WE believe that it is necessary for our young boys to have a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn and build positive relationships. They need a place to be heard and not feel compelled to be someone who always has to be tough and non-emotional.WE want to enhance their talents, dreams, and aspirations. WE want to help them discover their attributes and teach them how to sustain themselves.
